Who knew that AI stood for Apple Intelligence? Following Apple's recent update about integrating AI into their products and services, what influence could some of this have on Internal Comms?
Many businesses rely on Macs or iPhones as their primary communication and engagement tools, connecting employees and leaders to their organisations.
Depending on their investment in upgraded tech, this AI integration could soon be in their hands.
Here's a snapshot of these AI integrations and how they could relate to communications:
✍ Writing Tools: Apple Intelligence includes AI-powered writing tools such as Rewrite and Proofread, which help users adjust the tone of their writing and correct grammar and sentence structure.
🖼 Features like Genmoji and Image Wand allow users to create personalised images and emojis by typing descriptions or transforming rough sketches into polished images.
🔊 Siri Integration: Siri is enhanced with Apple Intelligence, offering richer language understanding and the ability to handle more complex requests by integrating with ChatGPT from OpenAI. This allows Siri to set alarms, create events, and answer detailed queries.
🔐 Privacy & Security: Apple Intelligence is designed with user privacy in mind, utilising on-device processing and end-to-end encryption. The Private Cloud Compute platform ensures larger server-based models can handle complex requests while maintaining privacy.
👀 My IC perspective: (You should chat with your IT/Technology teams to get their thoughts on Apple's updates and plans for these new integrations to come.)
✍ Employees will have access to AI tools to help them improve their writing. Similar to tools like Grammarly, we comms folk have an opportunity to get ahead of the curve to possibly create simple guidance for colleagues on how best to use the tools and ensure that colleagues don't get over-reliant on this tech and that they make sure their voice is still front and centre of their comms. There are pros and cons, of course. An area to investigate further.
🖼 Working with the brand team to understand the potential for creating and using internal emojis can add a sense of fun and relevance to internal comms. Having some guidelines for their use, as well as employees generating AI images of work-related photos and how they're shared and used, could be useful additions to help maximise and steer in the right direction.
🔊 Voice interaction linked to what is shared with such tools needs guidance around it in terms of education, awareness and understanding in discussing work-related information and data being shared, particularly with Apple's partnership with OpenAI, opens up all possibilities of business-related requests using generative AI inadvertently. Collaborate with your IT, HR, Legal, and Data Privacy and Protection teams. This leads nicely to...
🔐 Apple's Private Cloud Compute platform needs more details about it before using it.
