3 genAI tools for IC workflows related to writing, imagery, & music

Using generative AI as part of your internal comms workflow: 3 example uses - writing, imagery, & music—ChatGPT is now open to anyone. You can turn off adding your prompts to train its public model. Create and edit images. Stable Audio allows you to create 3-minute soundscapes.

Over the last year and a half, I've been integrating AI into my internal communications workflow. I'll soon share what I've learnt, tell you about some of my user cases, and compare which tools are good for which purpose.

In the meantime, here are three recent relevant AI updates:

  • ChatGPT is open to all—I'm a paid subscriber allowing me to save my history, create specialist mini ChatGPTs and upload my own knowledge. But you no longer need to be. OpenAI has made ChatGPT available to anyone, with some pros and cons. But the main introduction is the ability to opt out of using your prompts as part of training its public model. A few IC examples of its use are getting off the blank page, developing first-round FAQs, carrying out survey analysis, categorising anonymised data, removing duplication, looking for trends and comparisons, creating summaries and action points, idea generation, reviewing your writing, and many other relevant things.

  • DALL-E—Not only can you generate images from natural text language (which you've been able to do for some time), but you can now edit them through ChatGPT (which has been a feature in Copilot for a while, as it uses OpenAI). As a communicator, you now have the ability to create maybe abstract images (you need to ensure they're brand-compliant) for presentations, news stories, etc. to add some visuals to your text.

  • Stable Audio—Just released on 3 April, free personal accounts (there are paid commercial licenses available) allow you to create up to 3-minute soundscapes based on your text prompts, and the quality is pretty amazing. As a communicator, you can use this for presentations, Town Halls, news stories, podcasts, etc. Make sure you connect with your brand team. Visit their website. They're a UK company, Stability AI. Read about how it collaborated with AudioSpark to train its data legitimately using licensed music.
